COURSE OVERVIEW

This two-day instructor-led, classroom-based course, will cement your understanding of how COBIT can improve IT operations and support IT governance issues.  It will also ensure you understand the levels of security and control necessary to protect your company’s assets through the development of an IT governance model.

Control Objectives For Information And Related Technology (COBIT) is a set of best practices for IT management created by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) in 1992.

COBIT provides managers, auditors, and IT users with a set of generally accepted measures, indicators, processes and best practices to assist them in maximizing the benefits derived through the use of information technology and developing appropriate IT governance and control in a company.

  • An understanding of how IT management issues are affecting today’s organizations
  • How COBIT supports IT governance
  • An understanding of the benefits of using COBIT
  • The fundamentals required to practically apply the core content of COBIT
  • How COBIT meets the requirement for an IT governance framework
  • How COBIT is used as the umbrella framework and integrator for other standards (ISO 17799/27001, ISO 20000) and best practices (ITIL® , CMM and PRINCE2) 

This course prepares you to write the COBIT Fundamentals examination, which is scheduled on the last day of the course.  


COURSE & INSTRUCTOR ACCREDITATION

Pink Elephant is globally accredited to provide ITIL education for the certification program. The organization is accredited by the Examination Institute for Information Science (EXIN), the Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB), and Loyalist Certification Services (LCS).

Your instructor is a highly experienced ITIL-certified member of Pink Elephant’s consulting team.  Further, he or she is qualified to teach this course as defined by Pink Elephant’s internal Certified Trainer Program.  You can expect to learn from an individual with the industry’s deepest knowledge on how to lead a successful implementation project. WHO SHOULD ATTEND & PREREQUISITES

Business Process Owners, Business Process Consultants, Senior IT Managers, IT Consultants, IT Support Professionals. Work experience in governance, process improvement or IT services is recommended.  

Before the start of the course, it is mandatory that you read ‘COBIT 4.1;’ a free download from The Information Systems and Audit Control Association (ISACA), one of the original developers of the COBIT framework. Focus on the Executive Overview and Framework sections (pages 4-27) and review at least one process, looking at the high level control objective, detailed control objectives, Management Guidelines, and Maturity Model to become familiar with the structure of the COBIT documentation.


EXAM, CERTIFICATIONS & AWARDS

  • This course prepares you to write the COBIT Fundamentals examination, which is scheduled on the last day of the course.  A 60-minute, 40-question, multiple-choice exam. The COBIT Fundamentals examination is administered and marked by Information Systems Audit and Control Foundation (ISACA).  You must achieve a passing mark of 70% to receive your certificate of course completion.
  • You will attain 13 professional development units (PDUs) for Project Managers
  • You will attain 1.3 Continuing Education Units
  • You will attain 15 Continuing Professional Education credits

Maximum class size is 25 students per instructor.
